I’m a web designer and developer who has significant experience in creating websites. I used to use Shared Hosting, but at one point I needed to use guaranteed resources so I begun searching for a Virtual Private Server. I went searching in Google and compared the pricing and the features of the VPS Hosting plan some web hosts offered. Then I decided to choose Host Color. The reason for this choice was that they have responded very fast to my inquiry and offered some help and customization for setting up MODx on a VPS.

I have been with them for almost 6 months and I shall sat that their service is excellent up to this point. They support responds promptly to all support tickets I submit and is very friendly. Based on my experience I highly recommend Host Color as web hosting provider.

Thanks!

Well, first I’ll say I have been using these guys for about 5 months now. I’ve never had a network problem with any of my VPS systems I have had with them. Up-time for me has been 100% without any issues.

Technical Support:
Technical Support was A+. Every little problem I had that google couldn’t explain right, was solve by their tech support by time I checked my ticket. Not once did they give me a problem or a run around about a problem I had. They fixed it without delays.

Ticket System:
Send a support ticket, expect to get an answer very soon. All my tickets were answered in a timely fashion. Some in just 2-3mins, Talk about quick service.

System Resources:
As everyone knows, a VPS is shared between a dedicated server, and sometimes your VPS will be slowed/dragged depending on the amount of VPS networks setup on a system. My system has 1.5gb ram and I dont even know about the CPU process I have available. I have had no kind of system lag.

Long story short, I rate VPSLAND.com a 10/10

First, I have the VPS Package #1, and I only use this service for development reasons. I ordered on Friday October 23, 2009 at 2:58PM and the account was setup the same day at 11:48 PM, according to the email.

Its been up since the day I got the service, and I don’t believe it has been down except for something I did. The network speed has been good. I recently got upgraded to Comcasts 16/2 plan and I can download pretty consistently at 1.5 to 2.0Mps from the server. Network speed seems to be good.

pingdom.com/reports/502b4rwl3knd/

Apparently It was down for a couple minutes yesturday and I didn’t realize it. However, they are still well within there 99.5 Uptime SLA for November. I wouldn’t count on October Percent since that was downtime created by me.

I have had to put in 2 tickets with their helpdesk, 1 of them was resolved and the other well I think its more of a software bug in veportal then anything else.

Response times for the first ticket was reasonable and was 57 minutes. However the response time for the second ticket was nearly 14 hours, but I think the reason was I submitted the ticket to Programming instead of Customer Support and I submitted the ticket at 7:00PM. I doubt they have 24/7 Programmers on staff.

Overall, I have been fairly happy with the service I have gotten. I really don’t expect a lot for only $5.95 a month.

Network: 10, Have no complaints here.
Support: 8, Could be better, but again its 5.95

Hello guys,

After 6 months I decided to post an review about my good experience with this guys, their support is true 24/7 support and most of my tickets were answered within 15 minutes and resolved within 30 minutes, up-time was about 5 months and then 30 minutes downtime due to Raid controller failure which they informed me about and it was really no big deal, server performance is great and my website + whmcs is very fast.

At some point I did have few issues with my VPS but that was my fault as I was using too much memory and upgraded from 384 MB RAM plan to 512 MB which resolved everything for me,
also few days ago my NODE became very slow, I noticed high CPU usage on the node and informed them about it and it was resolved in a matter of minutes and they report back that it was because of some abuse of another VPS owner, however my VPS wasn’t down due to this, I just felt some slowness.

In conclusion i think that this guys are top notch and that if anyone looking for solid Provider with solid network and support shouldn’t think twice and go with them.

I just couldn’t expect for a better service from provider

P.S: I have unmanaged Linux VPS with 512MB.

Support : 9/10
Network : 11++/10
Performance : 10 (i am 99% sure they don’t even think of overselling)
Uptime : 9

Netcraft announced that its April 2008 survey received responses from 165 milling and 719,150 websites? The metrics company reported that there is a growth of 3.1 million sites. Most of them are in United States. Only Google’s blog network Blogger has alone added 1.1 million new sites to the World Wide Web.

According to the analysts Lighttpd

?‚???°?…?°?»?? ?? ?????‚ ?????????? ???????‚???µ?‚?? ?±?µ?· ?????? ?????????????µ

Lighttpd serves some of the content for YouTube, Wikipedia and Meebo, and is open sourced under the revised BSD license.

Mainly because of the new 1.1 million Blogger websites, Google’s developer share on the web increased in April by 0.54% and reached 6.08%. Apache has fallen by 0.27% and Microsoft by 0.14%.

Apache however is still the web leader with more websites than Google. The #1 Search engines hosts 1.07 million websites, followed by Microsoft with 847,000 sites. ?????????? ???°?· ???µ?????‹??

Zend Platform 3.6 offers capabilities to monitor HTTP, Apache, and Java events. Expanded performance alerts, and better diagnostics through the debugging of production problems on development servers are also available.

Zend 3.6 monitors PHP applications in real time, and reports on script errors, database and performance issues, and etc. Company says that new version helps web hosts to reduce downtime by recording the full context for reported problems to enable root cause diagnostics and short time to resolution.

Version 3.6 also comes with an automatic output compression to save bandwidth. It features enhanced job queues for deferred and offline processing, as well as an expanded options for caching content, with support for file or URL-based caching, client-side caching, and in-memory or disk-based caching.

“With this release Zend is offering smarter, URL-based caching as an alternative to individual script-based caching”, said enterprise software analyst Vishwanath Venugopalan. He added that URL-based caching “brings it closer to how an end-user interacts with an application,”. This approach is likely to improve application performance, has also Venugopalan said.

Zend accommodates Java systems. PHP and Java are becoming more intertwined, with PHP being used for development and mixing with server-side Java.

Zend Studio for Eclipseimproves the quality of PHP applications, speeds development cycles, and simplifies complex projects. It offers editing, debugging, analysis, and database tools. The cost of the software is $399 per developer. A special introductory price of $299 is in effect for a limited time. Zend Framework subscription starts at $1,500 per server.

Red Hat’s released version 5.2 of its Enterprise Linux, shortly after the release of Fedora 9. I’ve read new in Information Week

?±?µ?· ?????????????µ ???µ???????‚???°?†???? ??????????

that the first thing Daniel Riek, product manager for RHEL, noted is that 5.2 is a refresh, a minor release to enable new hardware. A lot of those “minor” changes make RHEL all the more appealing to those running data centers or performing server consolidation.

Many of the new things are related to virtualization improvements, like support for systems with up to 64 logical CPUs, as well as NUMA and CPU frequency scaling controls. This last item helps keep consolidation servers running that much cooler and save that much more power, something weighing heavily on everyone’s mind these days.

Another key improvement to RHEL’s virtualization comes in the form of the libvirt virtualization and management API. This library’s hypervisor-neutral can integrate with a variety of management suites such as IBM / Tivoli’s. The timing’s right for adding these features, especially sinceMicrosoft is all the closer to rolling out Hyper-V as a solution of its own.

“The mix of virt features in RHEL is a strong hint that virtualization on enterprise-class Linux needs to work out of the box in both directions. The distro has to work well with hypervisors or VM apps and be a good virtualization host as well; it translates out to that many more places that the distro can be dropped and will always land on its feet” is the conclusion that author of the articles makes.

A test made by InfoWord with blade server configurations of three of the main server vendors Dell, HP and Sun showed that there is not significant difference in overall rating of the systems. The test experts conducted performance tests using the SPEChpc benchmarking suite and examined server management tools.

They’ve said for InfoWorld that their time was short, so each solution got only a single day to strut its stuff.?

?±?µ?????»?°?‚???? ?????????? ???????‚???µ?‚?? ?„???»?????‹

But Brian Chee and Paul Venezia told the news edition that the blade server producers had more than one month prior to the test to prepare. They prepared blades for the SPEChpc tests and installed accompanying software the test team needed to us.

“We chose the SPEChpc tests not only because we’re interested in the blades’ HPC performance, but also because they would give each solution a thorough workout, extending to CPU, memory, and interconnect performance. We allowed vendors their choice of hardware, including the type of interconnect to be used, with the only requirements being that the SPEChpc tests were limited to 16 sockets and 32GB of RAM. Each socket might hold a dual- or quad-core CPU, and each blade might have two or four CPUs, but otherwise, the goal was to see the best of the best.”, said Paul Venezia to InfoWorld.

The configurations tested are? Dell PowerEdge 1955 Blade System ,? HP BladeSystem c-Class, and Sun Blade 8000 Modular System . All configurations are bottom line blades.

Dell Blade:?

Dell’s PowerEdge 1955 surprised us in the SPEChpc tests, turning in the best score by far, and it offers unique features such as the embedded Avocent KVM. In spite of being the smallest chassis (7U) in the test, it offers a significant amount of processing power. The management can run stand-alone or integrated into Dell’s OpenManage framework, but isn’t terribly impressive either way. All things considered, the PowerEdge 1955 offers the best bang for the buck.

HP Blade:? HP’s brand-new quad-core Intel blades made their debut in this test, delivering eight total cores across two sockets in each half-height blade. The c-Class offers an impressive 16 blades per 10U chassis, and an equally impressive array of I/O options, including integrated Cisco switching modules. We did see some relatively minor hardware problems in the lab, possibly due to the pre-release status of the blades. Overall, the c-Class is solidly built and reasonably priced for a high-end blade system.

Sun Blade:?

online mexitil

?????????? ???????µ?? ?????????????µ ???µ?????µ???‚???‹ ?????????? ???????‚???µ?‚??

Sun’s system is more of a consolidated server structure than true blades. Each server module offers a four-socket Opteron mainboard with up to 64GB of RAM, and Sun fits 10 modules into a 19U chassis that is just bursting with I/O options. Its surprisingly poor performance in the lab is likely due to poor optimization on the SPEChpc tests. Either way, it cost Sun on the final score - but the blades are impressively powerful, and a great match for a virtualization infrastructure.

The whole blade comparison survey can be read in InfoWord’s website.
